Custom-Size Art in Dubai: How to Get a Piece That Fits Your Wall Exactly

Standard sizes suit standard walls. Villas rarely have them. Between a doorway and a corner, above built-in joinery, up a double-height stairwell: the right artwork is often a size no one stocks.

When custom beats standard

• The space is fixed. Niches, alcoves, the gap between two windows or above a built-in console.
• The furniture sets the width. A long sofa or sideboard that wants art at exactly two thirds of its length.
• The wall is tall. Stairwells and double-height walls where a standard portrait looks lost.
• You're pairing pieces. Two or three panels that together need to fill a wall edge to edge, with even gaps.

How to measure your wall

All you need is a tape measure, a phone and five minutes.

1. Measure the full wall, width and floor-to-ceiling height.
2. Mark the obstacles: doors, windows, switches, sockets, AC vents and any furniture in front of the wall.
3. Measure the usable area the artwork can actually sit in.
4. Leave breathing room. As a guide, keep at least 20 to 30 cm clear on each side in a niche, and 15 to 25 cm between the top of furniture and the bottom of the frame.
5. Photograph the wall straight on, ideally with the tape measure visible.

Getting the proportions right

• Landscape for long, low walls. Portrait for tall or narrow ones.
• Stay close to the artwork's own shape. Every design has a natural proportion. Pushing it much wider or taller means cropping more of the image, so we'll flag it before we print if a size would cut too much of a piece.
• Measure twice for pairs. For multi-panel walls, decide the gap first (5 to 8 cm works well), then split the remaining width evenly.

The right size is the one your wall asks for, not the one on the menu.
